Good works versus grace

The Devil is a liar. He twists everything to try to confuse us. Satan has always tried to tempt and corrupt. He tried and succeeded in the Garden with Adam and Eve. But he failed with the Lord Jesus Christ in the wilderness. Jesus quoted Scripture and resisted Satan. However, Adam and Eve didn't trust God - they preferred to listen to a lie and death was introduced by sin entering a perfect world.

Genesis 2:16-17
'And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.'

Some religions talk of good deeds being required to earn your way into Heaven. This of course is another lie of the Devil.
Over and over the Bible proclaims that good deeds cannot earn us salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-9
'For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast'.

Romans 11:6
'And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.'

Like it or not, you are just too sinful and wicked to save yourself—you cannot earn your way into Heaven.
Some people, even some Christians  are of the mindset that they can live a “good” life and do a few good deeds along the way and everything between them and God will be okay. They said a sinners prayer so their passport is stamped. If they do more good deeds than bad then they are 'good Christians' and are going to Heaven.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

If good works saved a person then Jesus wouldn’t have had to die upon the Cross. The fact that He had to shed His blood proves that we could do a million good deeds and we’d still be in the hole spiritually with our sins!

Nothing we can do will ever add to or take away from the work that Christ did on the Cross. Without a genuine heartfelt faith in Jesus and His sacrifice at Calvary then there is no salvation. Don't listen to the lies of the Devil or doctrines of men. Read the Bible, trust The Lord Jesus Christ. Pick up your cross and dedicate your life to Him. Good works doesn't save you - Jesus does!
